Tai Chi: The 24 Forms by Dr Paul Lam

I learned Tai Chi from Sifu Bill Chin in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. That was a 108 form version that I never ever practiced in its entirety simply because it was too much to remember. In retrospect, I realize it was no small feat. Despite my lack of self-discipline, I was quite determined. Although it had minimal traction with me, I reached an understanding of the mysterious chi and was convinced from then on that it was the “answer” to ultimate control of one’s physical body.

After returning to NYC in 2002, I kept at it, taking classes still trying to find a way to integrate it into my life. My efforts were always half-assed and never produced any lasting result.

Then last year, I happened to come across this video and I knew that this was the answer. It’s just 24 forms (as opposed to the 108 that I learned) and I’ve mastered enough to know how to teach myself by studying the demonstration in the video. Most importantly, I like the way the instructor moves. He has a precise yet fluid style.

The following link will take you to my Instagram highlight of 24 stories of me doing each of the forms as I master them. https://www.instagram.com/stories/highlights/17869201301007592/
